Respite Day and Pie

Every Wednesday was pie day for my Dad - he and a faithful friend went to Village Inn for free pie each week! Since my Dad had not been able to get out - his friend would stop by Village Inn and pick up the pie and bring it to their house to enjoy together.

Dad's last day will be shown in pictures on Wednesday Slow Day, but it was his pie day and it is appropriate that his last food on this earth was pie since he loved it so much.

The manager at Village Inn sent a whole French Silk pie home for our family to enjoy this morning we didn't know would be his last. So sweet in more than one way!

We also had respite care that day and since Dad had been sleeping most of the day {and did again this day}, we were encouraged to keep our plan and get some rest as planned. We enjoyed getting out and I'm grateful that we were all home with Dad when he passed into Heaven - we weren't in the same room and he was asleep - but glad we were here.

When you asked Dad what kind of pie he liked - he would answer, "Hot and cold." :)

This is just precious,Monica! As someone with a non-believing parent, I rejoice that your Dad is now with the King of Glory! God's mercies never fail! I know Christmas will be both especially wonderful and especially bitter-sweet this year... I look forward to the treasures you share about your Dad's final time on earth! Have a Blessed Christmas, friend!
