Slowing Spring: Day 2

Today we celebrated our last community day for CC and Emily our Memory Master! MM is an extra level of effort that students can choose to put in where they must recite over 500 pieces of memory work from this year to their parent, a second CC parent, their tutor and then have a spot check with the Director. So far, none of my children have wanted to try for this - but this year Emily did and she did great! So proud of her for working hard and accomplishing this goal.

We gave her the choice of fun dinner ideas and she chose pizza and cheesy bread - we ate together in our Den and watched a movie from the library! Please note: I did not clean the room {though I did clear the coffee table!} before we ate there and I added an empty wheat bucket to the end of the table to fit one extra plate. I hope this encourages you that beauty can be cobbled together from what you have available and the energy you are able to invest!

Here are some ideas for your Slowing Spring Day 2:

Scripture:
* 1 Corinthians 3:5-9, "What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe - as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building."
- We see the phrase God made it grow more than once. What is something you see God growing in your life? In your home?
- How does it refresh your perspective to be reminded that we are God's fellow workers and He is the one who causes success? He receives the glory!
- The last line includes the words you are God's field - describe what that means in your life.

* 2 Peter 3:18, "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen."
- There is that word grow again! What things are we encouraged to grow in? How does that challenge you and/or encourage you?
- Are you spending time on things that foster this kind of growth in your own life?

Serve Gracefully:
Today, look for a way to secretly serve your children - do a chore for them or some little extra gift of service!

Slow:
Put on some favorite soothing music and color outside if possible!

Cultivate Beauty:
- Write a prayer to God about the beauty you experienced today - offer it as worship and praise to Him!
- Set a pretty table for dinner tonight!

Thank you, Monica, for this devotional series. I'm loving it! Anna and I took a walk yesterday, admired beauty, picked a daffodil from the yard for the table, and today everyone's home on a snow day, so I colored inside instead of on the porch. :) Two seasons in one week. I colored the Beautiful Slow print from you; I've been saving it for a special time and today was the day. The first time I've colored something for myself lately! So enjoyable! I might have to invest in a coloring book just for myself. :) Thanks again for doing this - God is blessing me through you!
