When Slow Doesn't Make Sense

We planned our annual apple picking jaunt weeks ago. With the date on the calendar, we looked forward with joy and excitement to our trip. Our sweet and gracious friends allowed us a place to stay.

As the day drew closer, I wanted and needed to go but a small part of me thought, "should we?" We just started CC that week, it is early in our school year, does it really make sense to leave home for a few days?

As soon as we got there and the air was quiet and at least 20 degrees cooler than we've felt in weeks {probably since we were in NC for camping!} I felt slow creep in to my soul and begin its restoring work.

Maybe when slow makes the least sense is when we need it the most.

When you boil it all down, I really can't afford NOT to slow! For the investment, I reap large returns and we make many sweet and beautiful memories in the process.

My children see me sit still, marvel over the sun filtering through the trees or smile in the joy of serving beautiful food {more on that tomorrow!} They see me read a book, crochet, not set an alarm, remark at the lovely cool in the breeze.

I love that my children are so good at making/finding fun just about anywhere. They model for me, I model for them - we help each other slow.

And when we all slow down together, that is sheer beauty my friends whether it makes sense on our schedules or not.

I love this comment..."maybe when slow makes the least sense is when we need it the most". Beautiful truths!
