Being a Student

Lately, I have been really craving time in God's Word. Time spent in study. My first thought is to feel guilty that I am not in a Bible Study and haven't been for a few years. But then I think about my life - raising three busy children, home educating them, managing the home God has provided for us and all that entails, serving, loving on and having friendships with others.

Then perhaps I might think that I could look on Amazon and find a great study and order that. But, then God reminds me that I don't need to be in a Bible Study to study my Bible. He gently nudges me with the truth that all I need to study His Word is the desire to crack open the Bible and a soft teachable heart to learn.

So grateful that this is something I can do right in my home and even in the midst of crazy. Please know that I am not discouraging participation in Bible Study outside of your home!!!! In fact I might be a teeny bit jealous.

Right now, my job is to be the one doing the investing in the three souls entrusted to my care. I need to be fed regularly by my own personal study and listening at church with an open heart. And when I find myself with a few minutes, I want to pull out a journal and my Bible and just read and listen.

How do you really dig in to studying the Bible?

I have my bike on a stationary trainer. First thing each morning, I read my Bible while riding.

Oh how I love this post. This is very true with me right now with 5 littles. If I get to read its early in the morning. My husband is constantly encouraging me to be in a bible study. Some days I feel guilty and others the subject stresses me out. Tx

Have you ever heard of loveGodGreatly? They do online bible studies for women 8 weeks at a time. You can do it alone or join a group via facebook or find one in your area. Right now we are in Galatians and it is lovely. You can do it at your own pace. Check it out!

I like to do word studies: sometimes it's just a word that speaks to me in a verse. Right now I am looking at different trees that are in the Bible! Perfect project for Fall 😉 lovingly in Him, Lynnebee

Monica for the last 2 years I have been totally devoted to my grandson & his special needs. I can not do an outside Bible study. When it's time to start a new church year, our leaders our pushing for help. Asking people to step up to teach a class or fill a position. I am not downing that & I understand that some need to be prodded/encouraged to step up. I am constantly told to come to the Sunday school socials. I take this child to 7 different therapy sessions a week & numerous dr's visits. I quit my full time job so I could care for him as he needed...but people think you have all the time in the world then. And the physical & emotional energy it takes to deal with him makes me tired & longing for home and SLOW and quiet when I can get it! There is a season for everything...but right now, like you, I chose my family first. God IS my center but I don't have to be at church ALL the time to prove that. I like a Holy Spirit led study (on your own) and I like a Holy Spirit led study with others in a structured environment as well. I have found numerous Bible Study's on Instagram that are amazing. Done at your own pace with others FREE!!! I am so thankful to have found theses women and their studies! I think you can find my name on Instagram & see the ones I follow if you are interested. There is one coming up in October about making your home a haven.

I am much more attentive to the Word when I have a pen and journal nearby. Actually, this applies to any learning for me. I take notes and may never look at them again. But the act or recording pertinent thoughts etches them into my mind.
