A touch of Spring!

After tons and tons of rain ~ we had a lovely day and an afternoon that was open to head to the Daffodil Farm! I asked Samuel to smell his daffodils and he said, "Mmmm, it smells like orange juice!" We had fun stopping at several homes along the way home to share some Spring with friends.

Samuel has not been with us to pick daffodils since he was about a month old, so this was a fun new experience for him. It brings memories with it for me - the first time we ever went was when my sister was here and Samuel was a baby. Look at how tiny the girls are - oh.my.  And, then there was last year and remembering going with Carrie and knowing she was in the hospital far away which of course reminds me of making these prayer mobiles.

It's interesting to me to consider how memorable moments {both good and hard} can be tied to experiences, smells, sights and feelings. It seems lately that I've written so many words that my words are getting fewer and the pictures are increasing. As I was working on this post - I had just a few words but the others rattling around in my heard and it was as if they really wanted to be let out and remembered for who they are as well and the part that they play in this journey we are on.

And, as I've released these words from the confines of my mind, I am reminded of why I keep active in this place on the web. It is a place of processing, a place to journal for my children and myself. To share a piece of myself that perhaps they will see for the first time years down the road.

Meanwhile, here is my next investment in a treasure trove of happy childhood memories:

Oh my goodness! The daffodils are in bloom there. It still looks like winter here. What a breath of spring just to look at these pictures. Samuel looks so cute in his new glasses. What fun memories.

Blue sky! Green grass! Flowers! Short sleeves! Thank you, Spring is showing up someplace! So nice to see anything that looks like "Warmth".

Aww, thanks for remembering my LONG-AGO visit. The prayer mobile still hangs in our dining room window! I don't know if/when I'll take it down!

I've never heard of a daffodil farm:-)
I wonder if they charge by stem, bunch, or picker:-0)
I love how bright and cheery they are, compared to the ground...

I know, without a doubt, that my children and I would love to visit a daffodil farm. This is a lovely tradition that you have pursued.
Samuel wore the best color of shirt in honor of the harbinger of spring!

Stephanie - they are 20 cents a stem!

These pictures displayed "sunshine" to me ~ in your cheery smiles, in the yellow daffodils, in the sunbeams peaking through, in the beauty of God's creation...lovely!

We had our first sign of spring ~ a mother robin perched herself on our deck a couple of days ago! :-)

Wow! 20 cents a stem I can't believe they are so inexpensive..they must have thousands of them, in order to sell so cheaply.
Would love to find something like that in the Charleston/Summerville area.
