The Quiet Place: A Giveaway!

In keeping with the quiet theme here for this year, it was very timely when I was contacted by Moody Publishers to do a review for this book. I'd love to put in a quick word of thanks here to Moody ~ I so appreciate knowing that I can consistently trust books that I pick up published by Moody. Obviously, I cannot speak for every single book as I have not read each one - but I have yet to come across one that has raised a concern for me and that is so refreshing and cause for great appreciation and thankfulness.

The Quiet Place Daily, Daily Devotional Readings by Nancy Leigh Demos is just what that title says. 365 daily readings with Scripture, devotional thoughts and questions for further reflection are included.

I started reading my copy yesterday, but Moody was gracious enough to include two copies so I could give one away here as well. I've been itching to start this book earlier, and let myself read only the intro to whet my appetite!

I am eagerly looking forward to enjoying this book each day and infusing this quiet time each day with God and His Word.

To enter the drawing for a copy of this book, leave a comment sharing what comes to mind when you think of quiet. Entries will be accepted today only until 10pm EST.

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book free from Moody Publishers to review here. All opinions shared are completely my own. Giveaway copy is also compliments of Moody.

Quiet=outdoors at night after it snows, when the snow literally buffers the sounds of life that constantly assault you.

When I think of "quiet", I think of time between just me and the Lord, be it in my favorite chair, on my elliptical or in the woods. :)

The mountains. Being able to hear the wind and enjoy it.

Quiet, to me, means shutting the door literally and mentally on the world. The world is loud, and sometimes not friendly. Quiet means no voices but my Lord's.

This time of year is quiet for me - after the holiday hubbub, I LOVE the quiet, order and renewal of the winter season.

Quiet to me is when my heart is in sync with the Lord's Will. It's like an overwhelming peace that quiets the rest of the world. No matter my surroundings or setting. Truly a wonderful feeling and I'm always in constant prayer to be in that place. Would love the chance to win this devotional!

Quiet does not necessarily mean absence of noise for me. However it does exclude manufactured noise, such as from the tv, electronic device, lawn mower, etc. When we are creating noise as a family or enjoying nature's song, it is the best kind of quiet. What a timely and suitable giveaway! Moody must also appreciate your emphasis on quiet.

Ijust bought this for a woman I know at Christmas and hope to win as it looked like such a wonderful devotional by Nancy Leigh DeMoss ( I love her program and messages at Revive Our Hearts) When I think of quiet, I think of my time alone with the Lord and those quiet moments are the times where I can listen to what He is speaking to my heart.

Quiet to me means feeling peaceful even if I am in the midst of a lot of noise. My favorite quiet time is before everyone else in the house wakes up, and there truly is silence in my world!

This devotional book looks fabulous!

The morning hours before my children wake up (Bible, prayer, coffee, blogging, workout, whatever I can fit in!). I am making a conscious effort to enjoy their noise, but still, I treasure my morning quiet!

As a mom to three, quiet means either very early or late at night. I can't wait until the weather warms back up, I like to sneak out on the deck before my littles wake up.

Quiet to me is early morning before anyone else is up. Talking with the Lord about my day, listening to the rooster crowing and the quiet sounds of the homestead. Quiet time is time for giving thanks and counting my blessings.

To me, "quiet" is peaceful. Darkness, candlelight, and alone time.

Jessie said...

I think of solitude - of being alone, which doesn't happen often in this stage of life.

Jennifer said...

Quiet to me is not just shutting out the outside noises but also the ones on the inside. Shutting out everything and allowing God to speak to me.

Thank you for this opportunity to be entered into your giveaway, Monica!

We recently traveled to Colorado with our 3 little ones to show them the mountains. For the first time, in a long time, I truly felt quiet...settled...peaceful. Somehow, the Rocky Mountains in Winter is able to do that!

Blessings,

Quiet to me is any time you can sneak away just for a few moments of reflection - whether it be early morning on the front porch or just sitting in the house without the noise of electronic devices.

Rachel said...

When I think of quiet, I think of being at peace, guarding my heart & keeping my mouth or typed words from sharing what is going on with me too openly and/or too frequently.

Oh my goodness! I would love to win this! I used to work with Nancy at Life Action Ministries in the early 80's.

Quiet to me is when I can sit and reflect with out a lot of outside noises. Noises of too many thoughts of what to do, literal noise and noise that Satan likes to put in my head to keep me from focusing on what is really important.

Michele said...

Quiet is when everyone is in bed but me. It's so worth it for me to rise earlier than everyone else so that I can seek the Lord while the house is quiet.

I simply think, "Peace". :) Because a quieted soul does not depend on what rages outside of it; peace is a Person, not a place.

Having two very little darlings at home with me, quiet is a rarity. Like you, my soul yearns for quiet, and I seek it out throughout my day. During this season, I have been learning that quiet can occur by stopping wherever I am, take a handful of deep prayer breaths, and even in the midst of chatter or tears I find "quiet" within my spirit.

Heather said...

I think of a quiet heart. Not absence of noise, but quietness of spirit.

Quiet is something I want and need more of in my life this year! I find myself constantly busy or making lists or thinking of what to do next. Quiet is setting myself in front of the Lord without distractions and allowing myself to listen to Him speaking to my heart. This book looks fabulous and I think I will buy it if I don't win!

Quiet is the moment right after you put your kids to bed. I normally turn off the television, and I listen to the rustling of book pages as they turn in her room. It is so peaceful and reassuring. It is the time of day when I get to reflect on the blessings that God has given to me, and to my family.
