The Roundhouse

Sometime within the past few months, a friend mentioned a train and roundhouse museum not too far away. It sounded like so much fun and we made plans to go! There was so much to explore, train cars to climb through, a ride by a steam engine and more - lots of fun!

This was my kind of place - everything was old! Chippy paint, old wood and old equipment, vintage trains abound! The light was just dreamy for taking pictures and it was so sweet to see how excited our littles were! I know you are used to it in my posts - but warning: lots of pictures ahead!

And, a few pictures my friend Melissa took ~ so my littles know their Mama was with them in all these adventures too!

Great photos! I'm surprised you hadn't heard of this cool place before now, but so glad the children were at such a good age to enjoy it when you did. :) Love you, Mom

Thanks for posting about this. We are going on vacation to Hilton Head from West TN in a couple of weeks and were planning to visit Savannah. I didn't know this was there and know my four kids (7 and under) will LOVE this place! How much were tickets? I've been trying to find something on their website.

I can't believe this! We are coming to Savannah in about a month and just yesterday I was looking for things to do with the kids while we are there. Of course, I found some info about this, but not much about cost, times they are open, etc. If you could send any info you remember and any other ideas for fun things to do with 3 little ones (4, 2, and 10 months) that would be great!

We are going with Daddy. He has played the Savannah area libraries for two summers now and this year will be doing Oktoberfest shows at all of them. We are excited to be going with him! If your kids are into music you should try and make a show. His schedule is at www.pintsizepolkas.com or the libraries would each have their specific show time too, I think.

I forget where the bloggers I read live, but this is a fun coincidence!

Monica ~

This is such an interesting place...what a blessing your family was able to visit! It reminds me of the "field trip" we took over a decade ago when I was teaching a unit study on trains {our eldest LOVED trains} so we went on a day trip train ride to another area, having lunch and visiting the historic shops, then back on the train several hours later to head home. That was a fun memory...how time flies {now 22}.

Blessings ~

Jarnette
