Family Night: Put On/Off

I am so thankful for the ideas online to motivate me to remain faithful with our Family Nights together. Our children are asking for Family Night and it makes my heart smile to see how much they are enjoying it!

This week, our time together was a combination of things - but it started with an idea from Seeds Family Worship Activities. It was all based on Colossians 3 which describes things we should put off and things we should clothe ourselves with.

The kids had fun trying on Daddy's clothes to show that these virtues don't automatically fit perfectly - we have to ask God to grow us to fit the things He wants us to "wear." I also made lots of little clothes and wrote both good and bad characteristics on them, they had to either put them in the "closet" or the "dirty clothes" based on whether they were for putting on or taking off.

After that, I pulled out a Doorposts study I already had - the Put On Chart Lesson Book. We talked about the different things we should put on and what those words really meant in easy to understand words. Then, we made the paper dolls included in the back!

Once again, we had a lot of fun! Laughed together and best of all - it was a great opportunity for investing in the character of our children!

I remember doing something similar with my children when they were little. What a great family night.

Love you, Mom

I applaud the teaching you and David do. What a difference it would make in our world if all parents took their responsibility so seriously!!

Like your mom....I especially like the pic of father & son coloring together.
