Parenting with Scripture: A Giveaway

I am still working through my pile of books to read and review here and am excited to share this next one with you! Parenting with Scripture by Kara Durbin is a, "Topical Guide for Teachable Moments."

We've been reading this book together as a family during dinner times and our girls have proclaimed it their favorite part of dinner! The book is divided up by dozens of character qualities and includes a definition and Scriptures supporting that quality.

A great resource when you need to find a specific Scripture on something for a teachable moment, but also a great conversation starter to introduce and reinforce character and what God's Word says about it.

I love this because it can easily be adjusted for different ages - for example, when David leads these conversations at our table he brings up the characteristic and shares an appropriate amount of the definition and then we talk about what that means and looks like in everyday life. Then, he may read one or two Scriptures instead of all of the ones listed. Right now, this is perfect for our younger ones and we can grow with it as they get a little older.

Moody Publishers has offered to send a copy to one of you as well! Please leave a comment on this post and I'll select a winner. Comments will be accepted until Thursday, June 14th at 10pm EST.

Disclosure: Moody sent me this book to review here and we've really enjoyed it! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

we have a Little Blessings book my sister bought (when we only had 3 children) for us. it's always a hit when we remember to grab it.

we usually do a Psalm at dinner, but this looks interesting.

... on a sidenote ... my husband is and AGR Soldier, and we just found out we'll be PCSing to SC in August. Spartanburg. I'm frightened (to say the least) of HSLDA's SC Homeschool Laws page. I'm curious how you handle it?

Thanks,
Kathi
