Courageous

I can't say enough good things about the movies from Sherwood Pictures! We love all of them and are so pleased that we can even share a couple of them with our children. I was excited when I heard they had a new movie coming last Fall ~ Courageous.

In our house, this movie lined up with so many things that envelop our life: faith, family, law enforcement, marriage - David and I both loved it. And, if you haven't had a chance to see it yet - I hope you will get to!

We got to see it on a date night with some dear friends and that is a fun memory in itself. But, the movie really was great - I laughed and cried and was moved and reminded of my walk with God - wow, how often can you say that about a movie!?

I love seeing movies like this succeed - for their willingness to stand up for our Lord publicly, to complete a project with excellence and to show how it can be done on an exponentially smaller budget.

Our copy arrived last night and David instantly wanted to watch one of his favorite parts where Javier pretends to be a really bad guy in the back of a patrol car and in Spanish describes what he wants for lunch - a perfect Chick-fil-A lunch, it's hilarious. I love that they know when you need a laugh and when to let the moment move you.

Learn more about the movie, which is now out on DVD, here.

Have you seen Courageous? Did you have a favorite part?

Disclosure: I'm telling you about the movie in exchange for a free copy! All opinions above are my own.

Love, Love, Love this movie. My son is 19 away at college and he watched it. He said he went out and bought it after he saw it. My heart was overflowing when he told me that. I was so happy that at the age of 19 he saw the importance of the daddy role and the message this movie was giving. He is studying Crime and Delinquency and hopes to be a policeman one day. So it was right up his alley also.

LOVED this movie, every aspect of the movie was excellent. I agree 100% with the reason why alot of children are the way they are today is due to lack of a father figure. I actually bought the movie that is how good it is. I loved the scene where the dad took is daughter to dinner and gave her the ring. REALLY an excellent movie.

We loved it! Have been waiting on it's release on DVD. I ran out and got it on that Tuesday and we watched it that night. My husband was an MP when he was in the army. I think to defend and protect is in a mans blood. He really enjoyed the movie and he liked David's favorite part as well. My favorite part was when the father finished the dance. Have a blessed Wednsday. Super rainy here in Texas with flash floods. We needed the rain but prayers for safety for those on the Roads. Angelia

That scene is hilarious, isn't it! But I think my favorite humor scene is "do you have kidney stones?" ... "no. Do you?" That had me rolling. :) My husband and I really enjoyed watching this, although I thought it was a little bit too similar to Fireproof.

Fantastic movie! Glad you have your own copy now and yes, that scene is a very funny part of the movie. :) When we saw it in the theater, it was very moving that the men in the theater audience stood along with the men in the movie committing to love their families. Love, Mom

I love this movie!!! It is hard to pick a favorite part. I think the funniest is the squad car lunch scene. I still laugh when I think about his facial expressions as he spoke. :)

The part that impacted me the most is dad dancing in the parking lot. Right after I saw the movie Megan asked to ride the penny horse at the grocery store. I was in a hurry and said no. Then I thought of this movie and that scene and knew I had to stop and say yes.

Any movie that makes me laugh, cry, think and want to seek a deeper relationship with God is a keeper in my book!

Hope to see more movies from Sherwood Pictures.

Monica,

That's so neat you received a free copy! I am glad Eric and I had a chance to see it in the theater while in MI. Powerful message!

My husband and I just watched this last night. We, too, enjoy and appreciate all of Sherwood Baptist's movies, and we are praying for their next film! :)

My hubby ordered Courageous for me as soon as it was available for pre-order. I'm still trying to process everything I watched, but a few of my favorite parts are: when the young police officer accepts Christ and takes responsibility as a father, when the dad gave his daughter the ring and told her to trust him with her heart God showed them who he selected for her, when Javier made the right decision to tell his boss that he would not lie and God honored that decision, when the police office ended up mentoring that young kid that went to jail in God's Word, and when Alex Kendrick's character made up the resolution and his whole role about being committed to doing what God wants him to.

We loved all the funny scenes too and had a fun time watching the out-takes!

My favorite part was when Adam was on the phone with the captain and said "Bye, love you" to him. Both my husband and I have both done that! LOL

I am the exception to the commentors--I have not yet seen Courageous. Everytime I have checked for it at Redbox, it has been out of stock. Hooray! That is a good indication of its success. After reading the comments, I think I should just buy a copy for my family to watch multiple times.

So funny you posted this today, as our church is actually showing it tonight to kick off a series on biblcal manhood. So glad it was a blessing to you and David.

I absolutely LOVE Courageous! It is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It had everything... Inspiration, drama, emotion, action, and comedy. It made me laugh, and it made me cry. After my parents and I saw it the movie theatre, all I could utter was "wow" over and over again.

Courageous is such a beautiful and inspiring story of what God can do when the hearts of the fathers are turned to Him. My family and I were so blessed by it.

I can't rave enough about Courageous, or all of the films that Sherwood Baptist has made. It is a tremendous blessing to see such God-honoring films being made.

Oh, and yes, my family and I thought the part with Javier in the patrol car was hilarious, too! And I love where Adam is questioning Javier about being Javier. :-)

Have you read the book? It is so good! It brings out a lot of other details that aren't in the movie. Excellent read!
