Handmade Gift Idea: Liquid Soap

Another great idea I saw on Pinterest - making your own liquid hand soap from bar soap. I really want to try this again with Mrs. Myers bar soap if I can ever find it! But, for now - I tried it with soap I had on hand so this project was nearly free. I already had the glycerin, but not enough so did buy a new bottle of that but used such a tiny amount it will last me a while! Basically, 8 oz. of bar soap will make one gallon of liquid soap. Wow. It only took me about 15 minutes and I did it while talking on the phone to my sister - perfect! Wouldn't this make a nice gift?

Have you ever tried this?

This is on my list to try...I love Mrs. Meyer's Basil scent, so I am going to use one of her bars... Where did you get your bottles? They are cute!

Yes, I've been doing this since this summer! It's awesome and feels so nice to be able to make it so cheaply:)

I use a similar method to make liquid clothes washing detergent. I can make a 5 gallon bucket for less than $2. I mix Dr. Bronner's castille soap (about 1 Tbsp)and water in an old foaming hand soap container and use that for our hand soap. So easy and inexpensive! But I do think I'm going to try this liquid hand soap for gifts. Great idea! Cute bottle! Amy

Riverswamp: this bottle came from a thrift store. Whole Foods has milk and cream for sale in these cool bottles also. Or, empty Frappacino bottles would be neat too!

I pinned this and have been wanting to try it, too!! I am also trying to find Mrs. Meyer's bar soap. I looked online and saw that she has a scent called Honeysuckle that I would love to smell, but no one here carries it. I think that a filled up mason jar soap pump thingie would make an awesome gift!!

I have enjoyed your blog for the past 3 years!

I have littles to teen.

Your ideas are helpful to moms of all ages and races.

Awhile back you posted about being discouraged sometimes because of blog numbers/followings/likes,etc.

Do not ever worry about that! You have a wonderful ministry here! Know that the Lord is using you in a mighty way.

If you only impact one person and that has lasting effects on how she begins to purposefully parent, take time to play with and celebrate little things with her children, that is HUGE!

Continue to run your blog as you feel led. You are having an impact in the lives of others.

Be encouraged and Merry Christmas!

I too love the jar. Another reason to save all jars as you empty them!
I have never made my own soap, but I definately make the soap that I purchase last longer. I add water to liquid soaps. I got a candy cane scented bottle in my swap box. I have already diluted it twice because it comes out so concnetrated. Most of the time, I refill the foaming soap dispensers with more liquid soap, but only use about 1 part soap to 4 parts water.
