Behind the Scenes

We planned a somewhat slower pace driving home than we had at the beginning of our Road Trip - meaning instead of 10-12 hour days, we only did about 7! We stopped for lunch at a Chick-fil-A in Smyrna, TN and I saw a little sign that said something about the next kitchen tour being at 1pm.

After inquiring, we had permission to have our own little kitchen tour! My children loved this and I loved that it was spontaneous and we actually had the time to do it! They enjoyed seeing in the big fridge and freezer and getting to serve their own ice cream!

It reminded me of getting to go to a Pizza Hut when I was a child. We were able to tour the kitchen and then make our own personal pan pizza at the end - wonder if they still do anything like that?

Anyway, a fun and spontaneous memory was made!

I took a small break from blogging. It sure is fun to catch up with you and your cute family.

I love how you slowed down to enjoy the small and simple things of life. Like getting your own ice-cream cone after a cool tour. Your girls will remember that forever.

Have a beautiful weekend.

Ooh, I would love to do that!! We love us some Chick-Fil-A!! Our old homeschool group took a tour of Pizza Hut and made our own pizzas. However, the manager was one of the husband's in the group...You should call and see about your local one. Also, I don't know if you have a Five Guys Burgers and Fries, but we have also taken a tour there.

Glad you had a great vacation! I bet you were missing your husband though.

Our play group toured Pizza Hut last year. I did it as a kid, too, but the manager said that they were instructed not to do it anymore right after she booked us for insurance purposes. I toured Dunkin' Donuts as a kid, too. I'm hoping they still do it.

I can't believe it has taken me this long to comment on your blog post. I just had to though. This is the CFA where my son works. When I clicked on it in my blog reader I got tears in my eyes because we moved to Arlington Va for my husband to take his first pastorate. My son stayed in Smyrna to go to school and work. He is 20 yrs old. It was just so cool to see something so familiar to our family on someones blog. Thank you for sharing your experience and making this mom's heart smile.

Awww, Jen! Really?! That is so neat! I loved hearing your story and how this was a special/familiar place to you. I know it is hard to move - and I know there is loss of special and familiar places. So thankful God brought a smile to your heart today! :)

Love,
Monica
