Cattle Drive

Every summer, the longhorn cattle are driven down one of the streets downtown to help kick-off the rodeo. I've never seen this and am not sure if I'd ever even heard of it before - but since we were downtown at the Pioneers Museum, we had fun watching this!

Samuel's favorite part was watching all of the police on motorcycles clearing the streets - but we all had fun watching the animals down the street. Certainly qualifies for unique and reminds us we are out West! Emily enjoyed meeting The Girl of the West!

I kept waiting to see The Pioneer Woman walking right down the street - it just seemed like her kind of thing.

And, if you want to read a funny book about a cattle drive - we loved this one at my sisters house: Sakes Alive! A Cattle Drive!

Hi Monica,

wow, how cool is that...if we had something like that in my town, I'd totally go see that ;) :) The cattle sure are beautiful creatures...LOVED the wagons...and the horns on some of those cattle were HUGE...really wide..wider than a car, it seems :) :) Thanks for sharing the photos. it looks like you're having a lot of fun. Have a blessed weekend. Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)
