Slip Cover!

We returned last night from a weekend trip to see my friend Grace! Always a fun time for the littles to play together and she and I always have some project up our sleeve!

This time, we planned to slip cover a chair of hers and next time she is here we're going to do a chair of mine!

Via her sister-in-law, she introduced me to Miss Mustard Seed. OH. MY. The first night together, we simply watched her slipcover tutorial videos and she is so adorable, plus she knows her stuff! Anyway, I just loved watching her and thought that was fun in itself!

The next day, we began to say goodbye to orange:

We took that batting off and got to work! Look at the wonders you can do with canvas drop cloths and some ticking for piping plus two sewing machines and two friends:

I think the back is my favorite part:

Oh, and of course - the friend I got to spend time with!

What a great feeling to finish up a big project like this and know we did it! Now, I'm envisioning slip covering my couches - well, that one will have to wait until we've done my chair! Isn't that a great makeover? She estimated it cost about $30 to make this slip cover and all the piping - very worthwhile for the amazing difference!

1. Chair looks gorgeous.
2. You guys are talented.
3. I did not recognize Grace. I know we've never met, but I think in other pictures I've seen, she's worn glasses?
4. Checked out MMS--you must go see the wedding post from today! Swoon.
5. It made me so proud that we did the lavender jars!

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! y'all did a great job.
I too have watched the videos. Marion is fabulous.
Now that I am off work, I plan to recover my wing chair.
You two have inspired me with the ticking piping. Great job! can't wait to see what you two do when she visits you.
You'll have to share this over at MMS next time she has a link up about slipcovers.

That's fantastic! I have my grandmother's rocking recliner, it was orange when I inherited it and as a senior in high school I thought white was the perfect color for it. Well, 8 moves and 3 boys later, it's not so white anymore! Think I will check out Miss Mustard Seed as well and lasso a friend to help! :o)

I have some slipcovered furniture that needs to be replaced. I really, really, really do not want to do it even though I could use the current slipcovers as my pattern. I'd have to do two chairs and an ottoman...ugh!

I must check out your tutorial. I have a loveseat that desperately needs a new cover and purchased ones don't fit it.
