Journey Through the Holy Days

I don't fully remember what exactly prompted me to work on this several weeks ago. But, I began searching God's Word for thoughts to share with my family during the 40 days before Easter.

More than half way through, I set it aside because there are already so many great ideas out there for celebrating these holy days. Yet - last week, I was reminded of it and opened it up again and God provided all the remaining pieces needed.

So, I humbly share the ideas He has given - Lord willing, we will be working through these ideas and Scriptures in our home and if you would like to join in, you are very welcome.

Journey Through The Holy Days

Here's how I envision this working in our home. Over the weekend, I made the paper chain slips so they are ready to assemble. You can download the file and just print them out or put them on pretty paper or whatever suits your time and taste.

Then, there is a guide for which Scriptures relate to the topic each day. You can read one or all of them or something else - it is just a suggestion. And, I've offered a family activity idea to go along with each of the daily readings.

I'm also providing a short supply list in case you want to make sure to have the particular items on hand. Most things used in the activities are things you'd have around the house all the time, but there may be a few things that you would not always have available. Those are the things that will be on the supply list.

Oh Monica ~ what effort you poured into this!!! Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful truths from God's Word that were laid on your heart! Undoubtedly, the time invested in this will not only be a tremendous blessing to your own family but to countless others too!! Thank you for loving our Lord so and allowing Him to use you to bring others closer to him! Your obedience to Him is inspiring and your thoughtfulness is so very humbling.

Blessings, friend, as we prepare to worship our Savior in a special way,

Can I just say: "Thank You!". We as a family are sacrificing things for Lent but this really helps focus our attention on Who made the sacrifice for us to begin with. Thank you so much for this!

Thank you for sharing this. I have never celebrated the Lentin season, but I look forward to doing so with my kiddos this year. We read the first passage this morning together over breakfast (we chose Luke 2) and have some fun things planned for a little later this morning. I look forward to blogging all about it.
Thanks again for sharing.

We're expecting our new baby Easter week so I've got the "to do" list in my head to make sure we're organized to focus on this special time on the church calendar BEFORE I leave for the hospital. THis year will be a bit different, and I think we're going to be focusing more on preparing our hearts in the days leading up to the hospital and then just refreshing ourselves Easter weekend.

Definitely not what I'm used to but I liked hearing your thoughts and ideas as I set about to prepare us for the season.

I was just thinking a few days ago that I had to pull ideas together for this Wednesday and then I checked your blog and...so thank you!

Thank you so much! I have been looking for something like this to do with the kids this year. The money to buy a book is not available right now so this is such a blessing to me. We have never really prepared our hearts for Easter before. But this year I wanted to start. I visit your blog regularly and just wanted to say what an inspiration it has been for me as a young mother with three going on four children.

Thank you so much for the outline you did. I started it with my 14 year old today. Of course there are a few things I have changed because of age. But she is so excited about our 47 day journey. What a blessing your blog has been to my family.

This looks great Monica and I'd love to do it. I'm technically challenged at times . . . do I have to have a Facebook or Scribd account to get the download?

Dear Barbara,

No account needed...look at the top left corner of the box surrounding the document you want to print and it says "print" or "download" right there. Just make your selection and enjoy!
