Sorry for the confusion in my posts this morning (if you subscribe, you may have seen a different combination of the same information) but it just wasnt' sitting right with me to combine things in a single post.

Also, thank you to the early commenters - I had to delete your comments just to straighten out the posts. But, I do appreciate your sentiments.

I'll be leaving tomorrow to go to Colorado for a little over a week ~ plans have changed a bit this week and I'll be staying longer than originally planned. Since I'm struggling to know how to share some family news (because I'm struggling to know how I feel about it), I'm going to point you to Carrie's post for a family update.

I don't anticipate posting next week - just wanted to let you all know and will look forward to catching up when I return home. Have a great day!

Monica,

I read Carrie's post. My grandfather, too, was somewhat estranged from the family due to marriage seperation. When he died, I kept thinking I need to be feeling something. I liked the guy, just never had that "grandpa" type relationship. Instead, my compassion and grief seemed heavy for those who were close to him and suffered from losing him. Praying for you and your family. I am sure all will be thankful you are there for support.

Sincerely,
Andrea L.

Monica, First off, thanks for sharing your heart with reagards to Shepherding. God has just revealed this to me, as well. It really put a few things in perspective. Second, I don't know where you are headed in Colorado, but if you are anywhere near the Parker/Elizabeth area, please know you have a friend if you need anything. You do so much to encourage so many women and I love to return the favor. Safe travels, you'll be in my prayers.

I am so sorry for your family and I will pray that God will give you peace beyond understanding.

This post hit a nerve with me as I wonder how I will feel when my mother's dad passes away. He too is estranged from the family, but more because he was a bad person and it wasn't safe for the granddaughters to be around him. It's so weird because I rarely think of him (g'ma passed away in 1989 and we were able to see her ...when "he" was at work) and my children don't even know he exists and have never asked about grandparents on my mom's side.

You'll certainly be in my thoughts and prayers this week... I can certainly relate to an unexpected death in the family - but especially due to a "strained" relationship, it's hard to know how to really feel. We'll pray for grace to enduret

Oh Monica...I just read Carrie's post, I am sorry to hear that. No matter what our families are like, God gave to them to us, for better or in some cases, worse.

I am sorry to read this tragic news. You might feel something similar to the way I might feel when my biological father dies. I don't know how I'll feel, but I imagine it will be confusing, mixed feelings. You seem so very sweet. If there is any chance of bitterness, guilt or any other negative feelings, I encourage you to let it go-as hard as it is. Some things just are, and we have to be aware not to let them destroy all the beautiful things. I hope this makes sense! :) HUGS!
