A day to restore ...

Not long before we went out of town with David for his conference, he took a day off of work and gave me the day off (yes, again!) ~ it was so nice!!

This time, I decided to do a bit of window shopping and found a couple of small treasures for gifts in the future. I went to a favorite area for shopping and then treated myself to my favorite lunch spot there.

It was so refreshing!

This is one of my favorite stores ~ I know the glare is bad on these photos, but I hope you can still tell what a charming display was there! (also photo above)

The basement at this place is amazing!
And, here is my cozy table for lunch ~
Hot tea and milk - look at that cute creamer!
My delicious soup!
Next, I had a salad and a slice of quiche with a plate of tea goodies to finish up!
What a wonderful day! What do you do to feel refreshed?

Ok---I have to ask David where that place is. I don't recognize it.

Tried your easy chessy bread for lunch RIGHT after I saw your post minus mayo...didn't have any...YUM! The kids were so excited!

For me, I love to refresh by sleeping, reading a good book after the kids are in bed, crafting at night, taking a walk, watching a movie with my daughter or talking with other mothers...

I also like to go on dates with hubby or just go grocery shopping w/ my baby and myself...

I'm sure as I eventually move out of the season of littles & nursing I will be able to get out alone sometimes! :)

Glad you had such a relaxing day! You are a blessing!

What a nice opportunity! I gave you an award on my blog. Please don't feel any obligations though.

What store is this? Maybe we can visit when I visit? If there is time ;)

I would love to peek in those shops!

Since Megan came home (over 2 1/2 yrs ago!) I haven't really done anything for myself. My alone time has been an hour or two here and there when she will stay with my parents. I usually come home and do housework. I know, not really a retreat! I need to plan something because I could use a re-charge.

What a blessing to have a hubby that realizes you sometimes need a break.
Love your fave little place to stop by. It looks so charming.
When I have free time all to myself, I like to craft or get outside and take pics with my camera. Another way I like to relax believe it or not is "clean" the house. I know, it sounds silly.

If you turn the flash off when taking photos like the first two, there shouldn't be a glare, but the photos may be a little blurry, depending on the lighting. I'll usually take a pic with flash and one without so I can choose the best one after I can see them on my computer.

I love taking baths or reading a good book to feel refreshed. Also, when I get the rare chance to cook, bake, or play the piano alone (I usually have sweet helpers!) I find it very soothing.

I noticed the plates you were eating on as my grandmother's china. I have a few pieces and compared it with your photo, it's the exact same service set made in the 50s and 60s by a English company called Johnson Brothers that is now a part of Wedgwood China. It is called Staffordshire Bouquet. Just thought I'd pass that on. It looks like a charming place.

Go to the bathroom by myself.
That is the only alone time I get. Ever.

What a nice husband you have! Sounds like you had a great day. I also love to window shop on my own - no little people urging me to move on...

Hi Ladies,

Thanks for sharing all your refreshing ideas!

Davonne: I rarely ever use the flash on my camera - I greatly dislike flash photos! Not sure what else to try to reduce the glare, but oh, those windows were pretty!

Grace: YES! Let's plan it!

Christy: Love the info on the plates - that is so neat!
