Butterscotch Bars (from my Grandma):
1/2 c. shortening (or one stick butter or margarine)
1 package yellow cake mix
1/2 c. chopped nuts
2 T. hot water
3/4 c. butterscotch topping
Combine above ingredients and beat until creamy (will be sticky). Spread on a greased cookie sheet or jelly roll pan (or you can use two oblong cake pans). Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Cool completely.
2 c. powdered sugar
1/3 c. soft butter or margarine
3 T. butterscotch topping
2 T. milk
1/2 c. chopped nuts, if desired
Mix together well until creamy and spread on bars.
