Happy Feet!

Ok, I have a confession - I've never truly understood slippers (until *now* - you knew this was coming right?!) I had several pairs growing up and I guess they were not comfortable or too bulky or something, because I just never "got" them.

So, I've survived for quite a few years without them! All this changed a couple of years ago when I had a gift card to spend at a local department store. Between sales and my card, I came out with a pair of slippers for 0.20 out of my pocket! They were black and sort of like clogs - they were pretty comfy, nothing amazing - but my view of slippers was improving.

Wearing this pair of slippers, I discovered something - how warm and cozy my feet stayed when it was cold! Now, it isn't really all that cold here at my house, but when it was damp and cold - these did the trick and if I wasn't wearing them on a cold day - my feet reminded me.

Several months ago - these slippers started falling apart and I was sort of on the hunt for a new pair. But, I made the others last a bit longer. I took them to Colorado and wore them all through Christmas and when we got home, I tossed them in the trash - my toes were poking out and the soles were falling off!

So far, I just really hadn't seen anything I wanted, liked, that fit, etc... Finally, last Saturday - while checking the sales at the same store where I found my first pair, I found the above pink fluffy slippers!

They were half off with an extra 50% off - yes, a very good deal as they were left from Christmas. They felt a bit snug in my size - but I like them and decided to give them a try.

Oh. my. These are the softest, fluffiest, warmest thing ever to touch my feet! I did not want to take them off! My feet were so warm and toasty even without socks! And, they are like walking on little pillows!

Later that same afternoon, I had to run out for another quick errand and I decided to run back in the store to see if they had another pair! Now, I'm all set with my cozy fluffy pair of pink girly slippers and have a second pair stashed in my closet for when I wear these out!

I'm sure it comes as no surprise that Emily and Rachel love these and Samuel giggles and grabs at the little pom balls on the tops!

So, if you stop by to see me sometime - just be forewarned that I may come to the door fully ready for the day with these cozy slippers on my feet.

How about you? Are you a slipper girl? Tell me all about how you keep your feet cozy! After all, isn't this one of life's little simple pleasures?

Those are so cute and look really warm! I'm not a slipper girl. I don't like socks either. I'm a barefoot girl and would get away with it outside all the time if I could (and didn't live in Minnesota, brrrr) lol.

I love my slippers, too. I have a spare pair waiting in my closet, but I can't bear to part with my well-worn favorites.

I have a pair of slippers that I only wear occasionally. They slide around on my feet too much for wearing around the house! My feet are often cold (especially in the house) so I wear shoes during the day when I'm working and regular socks or slipper socks when I'm relaxing.

Your slippers are so cute that I almost wish I liked to wear slippers so I could have a pair!

I am a slipper girl. I always have a pair on my feet while at home. I wear a ballet type terry cloth slipper. I always wear them until they fall apart. They are like a good friend and it is just too hard to let them go!

Hi,

I don’t leave comments very often on your blog but today I just had to include my 2-cents!

I love wearing slippers; they keep my feet comfortable! Even in the summer time I wear them; but the summer slippers have an open toe so my feet don’t get hot.

Your description of walking on little pillows is a good way to describe them.

I Love slippers. growing up I was a sock girl and still like socks but it is easier to slip on a pair of slippers in the morning then it is to go to the sock drawer and get a pair of sock. I love your pink fluffy girly slippers. Now you just have to remember to take them off before you go out ;) Just speaking from experience there. HA!

I love your slippers and I did not think I was a slipper girl but it turns out I am it took my son to buy me a pair of slippers to find that out

I like slippers. I like all kinds, but most often like the ones that cover my toes and leave the back open, like clogs. Funny story: When I was in labor with my daughter (which lasted 2 days), I wanted my socks half on - covering the toes and half-way down my feet, but off the heel. Well, every time I got a new nurse, she would see my socks, and go "Oh, sweetie, let me fix your socks" (I suppose she was thinking I was rubbing them off during contractions.)

My son is definitely not a slipper person. Matter of fact, as soon as he is in a house, off comes his shoes AND SOCKS. He's 10, and it still doesn't matter whose house or how long we're staying. He just hates having his feet covered up. Drives my hubby crazy. :)

I love slippers! I love being barefoot when it's warm outside but as soon as the weather turns I've gotta keep those feet warm! I also just replaced mine in those after Christmas sales!

I used to wear slippers, but went through them too quickly. If you come to my house you will find me sporting ugly brown crocs. I wear them year round. In the winter I wear them with at least one pair of socks ( we keep it frigid in here); in the summer I wear them alone. Several years ago my family gave me a hideous orange pair for Mother's Day. I loved them and now wear them when I go outside. My current pair came as hand-me-ups when my son grew out of them. I'm not sure if these will ever wear out.

Cute!

When I lived in Florida, I was definitely a barefoot girl. I did not own a pair of slippers... flipflops were good enough if the soles of my feet were chilly on the tile floors. On really cold days, I'd grudgingly break out one of the approximately 6 pairs of socks that I owned.

Now that I'm in CT, though, it's mighty chilly from November until... May, maybe? I have a lot more socks and a pair of Isotoner slippers. Hubby got them for me at Christmastime, and they're already starting to show signs of wear, so I'll need to get something else for the next cold season. Maybe a clog-style... I don't like fuzz and fluff next to my feet (say that five times fast!).

Not until moving to Eastern Europe. All the floors are wood/tile/linoleum and the homes are draftier so they are a MUST in the winter. If you don't wear them you are sure to be scolded for putting your general health, especially kidney and reproductive organs at risk. Don't ask me! I'm just the messenger! (:

I have my slippers on right now. I too wear them out until they die, then am on the hunt for new ones. I have slippers to wear outside, that are like cheap crocs with a fake sheepskin lining. The ones I am wearing now are red suede Lands End with crepe souls. The originally had a leather tie, but that kept coming undone so I tied knots and cut off the excess. I am for sure a slipper girl! I HATE going around barefoot, it reminds me of how much the floor (mostly NON carpet) needs to be sweapt up!

I LOVE slippers! I wear them all the time in the house, except in the summer when I wear flip flops if it's too hot for slippers. But sometimes I wear slippers anyway. Then I wonder why I'm SO HOT! :)

Oh yes, slippers for me! Your new ones are very cute -- I'm sure the little ladies think so, too! Love, Mom

Hooray for slippers! I am so completely a slipper girl, too, Monica! I live in them inside the house if it is winter, and have no choice but to get a new pair each year because they become so shabby from being loved. Come summer, it's bare feet for me, but for winter- slippers all the way. Oh- WITH a pair for socks! My feet are finicky. :-)

I love the furry socks you can buy at Target or JCPenney. I bought a pair to feel fancy when I was in the hospital having our first daughter.

I'm a slipper girl - definitely! I wear the Isotoner brand and find they last me at least a year. I like the slip-on kind, with nothing to grab at my ankles. I keep them on from morning till night, unless I have to go somewhere. And even then, if I'm just running a quick errand where I don't have to leave the car, or picking up a child, I'll wear them!

I have nev er been a robe or slipper girl but after the description of "walking on pillows" NOW I WANT SOME! :o)

I am a flip flop girl. Believe it or not slippers make my feet overheat and miserable even during New England winters. When I am cold I do better with socks and sneakers because air can circulate better I am thinking...LOL But your slippers sure are cute!! =)

Cute slippers! I am a slipper girl. I never wear shoes in the house in winter (or summer for tht matter!) and always wear slippers or put them on as soon as I return home.

Those slippers do look very inviting! I too have a pair of slippers that I put on as soon as my feet get out of bed. It does make a difference when you have to walk across that cold kitchen floor in the morning. . .

I am a slipper girl if ever there was a slipper girl. I too am picky however so I tend to be without them sometimes. Quite often when I do find a pair that I love, I decide I don't want to spend the $$ on them even if they are uber cheap because I think of other things the $$ can be spent on. Hence, I've been without slippers now for almost a year. Now my socks are wearing through because of the hard wood floors.

So funny you posted this because I'm about to force my slippers (worn all day every day here in frigid Michigan) into retirement. The stuffing is coming out and the toes are giving way. They are 8 years old and Tempur Pedic (they were a gift). I love them and they are so cozy....I'm actually afraid that I'll never meet the perfect slipper again...

YES, YES, YES to slippers! I love them. I grew up in a family that doesn't really wear shoes inside. We just went barefoot. My husband rarely takes his shoes off. I always thought that was so wierd. Since we keep our house chilly and we have wood floors, I always have a pair of slippers on since I usually don't wear my real shoes inside. Slippers are so much more comfy! And your's are way cute!

I agree...just in the past year, I have discovered how much I LOOOOVE my slippers. I've had them forever, but they are now a part of my daily wardrobe ;)

I have four pairs that I have received as gifts, etc., but I always wear the same ones... It will be a sad day when they wear out, but at least I have some spare pairs!!

Oh, I LOVE my slippers from Land's End. At the time I bought them, they seemed a bit expensive. But, 5+ years later, they are still holding up. And I wear them from morning till night! They are fleece uppers and hard soled bottoms. I do notice that the inside is showing its wear, so I will probably ask for a new pair for next Christmas. I am definately a slipper girl!

Oh, how I love slippers! I wear them every day and since mine aren't really obviously *slippers*, sometimes I wear them outside of the house, too. (Did I really just admit that online?) I get my slippers from LL Bean and they are sooooo comfy! Nice and warm, too.

Nancy at EmbroideryIt.com said...

Those are cute! I have a pair from LL Bean that have a Birkenstock type sole so it has some arch support and they are lined with lambs wool. Oh so soft and warm and with support too. My problem is that I never could find slippers with an arch support until now so these are perfect for me.

They are too cute for words and the fact they are pink just makes them that much better! I personally find slippers keep my feet way too hot, but I love the looks of them. I'm attempting (note the word attempting) to make some knit socks for myself, but we'll see.

I may have to give slippers another chance though after reading your post.

I love to wear slippers too. And on more than one occation have been sitting in car line to pick the kids up from school and looked down...yep I just ran right out the door with pink fuzzy feet. I do not like to be barefoot...EVER, so a good pair of slippers is a good friend to me. My husband recently made a comment on the condition of my slippers so I guess it's time to start looking for a new pair. Fun topic.

Love the slippers. I have to tell you, I was not a slippers girl until I had Connor six years ago. I found a pair that looked just like shoes and would wear them all them time.Once I forgot that I had them on and went to Awanas with them on. If you ever stop by my house I will too have on my slippers.

I've become a slipper girl. Our kitchen gets pretty chilly in the winter. My husband and I leave our slippers by the door so we, like Mr. Rogers, take off our shoes and put on our slippers. ;)

I have a pair just like your first favorites - my mom gave them to me for Christmas 2 years ago. They are pitiful - I've even tried superglue to hold the sole on for a while longer. I haven't found my next pair yet but now I have hope. I really like yours.

I was at a local drug store right after Valentine's Day & they had everything "Valentine" marked down. I found some really soft & cute slippers with hearts on them for only $1.25! I did as you did & bought a 2nd pair for later or even as a gift. Gotta love slippers (and mark downs)!

I love slippers! A couple years ago someone gave me and my daughters matching pairs of Runaway Rabbit bunny Slippers and I fell in love with them. They are so comfortable, warm, and just like walking on pillows. When I first got them I thought the cutesy bunny was more than I could handle but once I tried them on I was hooked - and of course the kids just love them. Just a few weeks ago I was all dressed up for a party we were having and greeting people at the door in my bunny slippers. They make the cold weather enjoyable!

I wear my shoes throughout the day. (Flylady principle!)But when I get ready for bed I put on my slippers. I have had several pairs throughout the years, but I am currently wearing my all time favorite. They are white and fluffy soft. Like walking on a cloud. I will be pretty sad when these wear out, I don't know where they came from as they were a Christmas gift!

I am tickled that you have a back-up pair of slippers!

Those are so cute! I love them! As I have gotten older, I am definetly a slipper person. When I was young I would kick my shoes off when I got in the house. As I have gotten older though, I have several pairs of slippers. Can I ask what brand they are?

There is nothing better than comfy slippers on your feet. Love the pom poms on yours they are really cute.

I love this post, Monica--it's so cute and captures a really normal part of daily living.

I am totally a slipper girl. A few years ago my husband introduced me to Acorn slippers and I've never looked back. "Walking on clouds" is an apt description, plus these slippers have little rubber soles so I can run to the neighbors' in wet weather without a problem. Living in the midwest and having wood floors makes slippers a must! I'd be cold 24/7 without them!

I am not a slipper girl, per se. I wear flip flops around the house like one would wear slippers. I just can't do the enclosed warm feet thing - it grosses me out. I either wear my croc flip-flops OR socks with my addidas sandals, but 98% of the time it is the croc flip-flops.

There is nothing more delightful than coming home after a long day of high heels and slipping into my crocs. My feet feel as though they have died and gone to heaven.
