Swimsuit Q&A

I can hardly believe I have posted a photo of myself in a swim suit - but that should tell you how much I love this one! I have never had a love of swim suits and have struggled with how unflattering they feel on me. I would avoid going swimming or the beach, because I did not want to feel so bad about myself.

Until now. I love this one! I love wearing it and I don't even have to swim - I just like wearing it! I got it last summer through Land's End and a wonderful gift my Mom gave me for my birthday!

I know it would have been super easy to answer this question in the comments. But, as I lay in bed the night after posting our Family Night at the beach, I thought how fun it would be if Land's End would agree to host a giveaway here so that one of you could get a new suit and enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed mine!

So, I wrote and asked them - and their director was out of town at the time, hence the delay in posting this. As of now, I have heard from them - but not with a definite answer - and I think it silly to keep you all waiting over a week just to know where I bought my suit. So, if Land's End comes through with a giveaway - there will be an update to this post!

I love this suit because it is flattering and modest, but still cute and comfortable. It is two piece - a tank top (link is to the same cut/style mine is, though not the pattern obviously) and Swim Mini skirt (navy).

Yes, I am able to nurse while wearing this - though I won't say that it is made for that, and since I don't usually wear special nursing attire, it fits fine with my style.

This suit washes well also - I simply toss in the washer and hang to dry. Another thing I love about Land's End suits is all the options. You get to pick your style, your bra type, your size including petites and talls. Their catalog and web site are full of flattering and modest options made out of cute fabrics. I liked the above option also because of the mix and match options. So, you can get colors you like that look good on you!

While browsing the other day, I noticed that there are some great swimsuit options in their Overstock Clearance - so you might even be able to snag a pretty good deal! I also stumbled upon the fact that they have maternity suits and look at this darling maternity swim top!

Any other suggestions out there on finding a cute, flattering and modest suit?

Your swimsuit is so cute and flattering -- I'm glad you like it! :) I found a new one this year, too -- from One Hanes Place. Like yours, it is two pieces and the bottom part is a "skirt." Love the photo of you and Emily! Love, Mom

I just ordered a swimsuit from Land's End based on your excitement about your swimsuit. I got an email this morning that it was shipped last night. I can't wait!!! I love all their options - flattering and modest!

Any suggestions for a swimsuit? Nope...Because I bought mine 2 years ago from Land End too!!! And I have to say, this is the first one I have loved in a long time. It is a high tank top (which is good for my body type) and a skirt...both in hot pink. It is stylish (atleast in my opinion) and cute.
Funny story, me and my sister went on a drip last year together. Come to find out, we have almost the same bathing suit. He tank is different.

Thanks for the bathing suit advice! I live in Florida near the beach so I'm in a bathing suit a lot and don't love them either! Just wanted to add that our Sears stores in the mall have some Land's End bathing suits so you can at least try a few on to see what different styles look like on before you order one if you like. That's what I've done in the past.
Love your blog! Thanks for the inspirations!

I too have a suit from Lands end, love it too, if it is possible to love something that I abhore...lol. I love the beach, and we go often so I have to endure it.
That picture is so sweet of you and your little!

I LOVE my Lands End suits! You can't get any better than them. I suspected that's where yours was from! :-)

ooo, I hope they DO host a giveaway!
I am wearing an OLD suit that I bought 6 years ago after having SAMMY, and I wear surf board shorts as well. My suit is black on the bottom and red and white on top, one piece and super basic. I think I found it at JC Penneys. I have had Lands End suits before and would highly consider getting one now only I really don't wear a suit much. So the cost for the suit + the lack of use doesn't square with me. Until I'm in a suit more often, I'll stick w/ what I've got.

I got one very similar to yours from Kohls.com this year. I love it! In years past, I'd always wear shorts with my suit since I was so uncomfortable without. The skirt on the bottom on my new suit makes me feel much more modest!

That even I would wear though I doubt they would have my size. But I seldom swim so probably no need for it anyway.

I absolutely love the swimsuit. It is very flattering on you!

I think I have the exactly same suit in solid pink. It's my favorite that I've ever had because I love the modest top. I can bend over without fear of "flashing" anyone!

I just got a Lands End swimsuit and I absolutely love it. Mine is a halter tankini with a full bottom on it. The sides to the suit cinch so I could be a little more showy if I wanted to (that never happens) and it is still very youthful while being modest. I hope they come through for you!

That was so thoughtful of you to try to get Land's End to do a give-away. I actually just finally ordered a suit from them this week. Two suits actually, so that I could see which one I like better. If any of you are wanting to place an order, google for a coupon code for Land's End and you should be able to find a free shipping code. I did! So I felt more comfortable getting two different suits, and I'll return whatever doesn't fit or I don't like to my local Sears so as not to pay shipping charges!

I think the swimsuit is darling ~ and when you find something that fits all those criteria (modest, cute, comfortable) ~ it's so worth sharing about and a rare find! So thank you for that! I have had lots of trouble in this arena too. All of my swimsuits from my 20s don't seem to fit *in many ways* ~ size, personality, style, etc. I think the Lands End options of mix and match are wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing!

I hope Land's End comes through with the give away! How fun!

I also like Land's End's children's clothing. They don't fade and stand up well. Since I have 3 boys for the clothes to go through that is a big plus for me!

I also like Land's End because you can go into Sears now and try things on--no shipping cost!. At the end of the season they put things on clearance. Half off of half off. Can't beat that!

I just ordered a suit from them a few days ago, and it should arrive tomorrow...shorts and a top. I have a one piece that I bought from them 7 years ago, and it still looks GREAT. I am just wanting a little more coverage now.

Cute suit!

My swimsuit is from Land's End, too. I've had it for years and it still looks like new. Totally worth the money!!

Yes! Land's End does have some great options! I say if you get a great suit that will last a long time, it is well-worth their prices.

By the way, I couldn't access your site yesterday and couldn't figure out why. Today I realized my filter was considering your post on swim wear "intimate apparel"! How funny!! Just wanted to let you know you must have looked REALLY HOT in your suit--my internet filter blushed! :)

P.S. Really loving your site (i'm a newcomer). Especially the "a week in my life" series...

I also found Land's End suits... although I have to say I found a very cute suit there this spring and asked for it for my birthday. It is a light colored suit... so because I am not thin it is not flattering... but my LE suit from last year... navy blue... is very flattering..

Side note.. I am a one-piece believer... but the Lands End two pieces end up being much more modest in my opinion than one pieces, because the they do not ride... and the top goes over the bottoms...

I've had Land's End suits and liked them, too. My current suit is from LL Bean, which is another winner for coverage and fit (and I say this as a woman of, ahem, abundant proportions). Although I choke on the price whenever I buy a new swimsuit I've come to realize that, for the money, Land's End and LL Bean cannot be beat. Taken care of properly, a suit from either company can last several years with moderate use.

That suit is just adorable! It looks great on you. Me...I don't wear swimsuits. I don't like my stumpy little legs, but if was going to wear one, that looks like it would be my style!

Okay I lied, see my Blog to see my new Lands End suit...
