Summer Door

I've never really known what to put on my door for the summer season. I seem to rotate different seasonal wreaths the rest of the year, but in the summer - I get stuck. Not this year!

The day before Samuel was born, I had just been to the dr. and my Mom and I were out without any littles! So, we decided we should take a little drive out to one of my favorite local spots to visit and just enjoy it together.

We found this wonderful galvanized pail there and my Mom treated me to it! Thank you, Mom! I knew I wanted to make it into something for my door or porch, but hadn't figured out exactly what. Then the idea came to me to use it for the summer since I am always stuck on that season.

I dropped a piece of floral foam inside and stuck three silk geraniums in. Then I made a bow/handle with ribbon and tied on this cute "Homespun" plaque that my friend Angela sent me! Thank you, Angela!

I simply love it - I have found myself going outside just to walk in and see it again! How do you decorate your door for summer?

Monica, love your new door decoration. So summery and welcoming. I usually do wreaths as well. I am still stumped as to what to put on it. I do want to decorate the porch up a bit. There is a little area to the left of our door that is screaming for me to do a little something with that space.

Cute! I also struggle with a summertime door. I will have to put my thinking cap on.

Very cute, Monica! It's cheerful and friendly looking.

I LOVE the contrast of the red blooms against the white door!

I usually don't put anything up because I get stuck. That is such a sweet idea! I love it!

I have some patriotic decorations that I put up around memorial day and keep up until labor day. They are both from Southern living--one is a metal flag garden stake and the other is a metal pail with a flag motif on it.

I find you completely amazing how organized you are. I love to decorate my porch for every season! I just finsihed it for summer just the other night. This is cute, Monica!

I have a plain grapevine wreath on my door. But alongside, hanging under the mailbox is a small watering can and a basket with greenery/flowers from the yard. For summer, I like to stick some American flags in the basket. I just haven't done so this year yet!

I love that!! I have a door bucket from Southern Living at HOME that I put silk blue hydrangeas in. I might put a small American flag in it also. Never have thought to hang a small plaque or sign-might borrow that idea.

Great idea, Monica. I love how it turned out!

I just hung that black and white "les fleurs" bucket outside our door.

Your "homespun flower bucket" is adorable! You are very clever with your crafts. I am not, so instead of decorating my porch with wreaths, I use seasonal flags and potted plants.

Very nice! I also go back and look at things I've done just to enjoy it over and over (a cleaned out closet, re-aranged room, new table centerpiece) glad I'm not alone in this silly obsession of admiring my handiwork!
BTW I tried your banana bread yesterday- its wonderful. I'm excited to finally have an oil based recipe instead of a shortening based one(though unsalted butter is a good replacement).
