First Day of Summer!

Thank you all for your great ideas on what to do for our First Day of Summer! There were some very creative suggestions! I changed my mind every time I read a new idea - but ended up having to go with what was easy since we've had a busy week!

I did decide to go with ice cream for breakfast (easy) and gathered toppings and
served with bananas.
Each of the girls received a bubble wand (Target Dollar Spot) to use with
homemade bubbles after breakfast!
These flowers were from our yard:Emily helps Rachel put sprinkles on her ice cream!

Rachel enjoys her ice cream! It is running down the edge of her mouth and I love how her little ankles are crossed under the table!Fun with bubbles!

Look at all those bubbles!

Rachel had more fun dumping the bubbles out, swishing her feet in them, etc than she did blowing them!

After playing with bubbles and cleaning up breakfast, we headed over to a friend's house - a teenager from church comes over about twice a month to help me with the girls. She plays with them while I clean or we go to the park or whatever. Today, she came over and
we went swimming in our neighbor's pool!

After swimming and getting all cleaned up and changed, we took our friend and helper home and took lunch to Daddy at work! We took hot dogs wrapped in foil, watermelon, chips and brownies. I also took a jug of lemonade which we had also had at the pool!

We collected fireflies on the first day of summer!

I like how you celebrate the change in seasons. I really liked when you did the Easter baskets on the first day of spring. I was thinking of doing something like that for all the seasons: Summer a little pail with new sunglasses, flip flops, and bubbles. Fall: a basket with an apple, a book like Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf and new crayons. Winter: a basket with new gloves or mittens, a book like Winter Friends, and a little stuffed snowman.

I also thought of an idea for the Fourth, but I haven't tried it yet. I want to cut watermelon into slices and then use a star cookie cutter to make star shapes. I don't know if it will work or not, but I'll try it.

You had a nice first day of summer. Your blog is always so inspiring to me!

Your plans to make the girls' childhood special always makes me tear up. You really are a great mum, and such an encouragement! I think that all of your hospitality/clean heart posts really show how if you allow Him to, God can do such wonderful things! Thanks for sharing your traditions with us.

I really love your blog. I don't know blog rules, but I added you to my favorites. I'm setting one up on loving 2 year olds. So many talk about terrible twos and I grieve. You have embraced the joy of little ones! I admire you and enjoy your blog. My new one is http://twoisterrific.blogspot.com
