Family Night: Cars

This past Friday for Family Night - we had a car theme! My sister contributed the fun drive-in food idea - so, I made burgers and fries and we ate them in the back of the car! I realized later, I should have said we were eating at Flo's V-8 Cafe to tie in with our theme!

Next up - we washed the car! The ladies were soaked, but had a great time! They figured out they could ask Daddy to make it "rain" and he would point the hose up in the tree and they would stand under it and play in the "rain" - fun times!

Samuel just took everything in from his "throne" ~
After the car was clean - we got in our pj's and I made Blizzards which we enjoyed while watching Cars! Fun!!

Anyone else do Family Night at their house?

Monica-

I love your family night posts! They are so inspiring. We do have family nights and they are great fun. We don't do fun themes like this though. How do you keep coming up with great ideas??

I make homemade pizza on Friday nights and we sit at the coffee table and watch a family-friendly movie.

You guys have the best family night ideas. Cars is Ethan's favorite movie so we will have to try this one. Thanks for the ideas!!

What a GREAT idea!! Brendan's favorite is CARS movie too. We'll have to do this!
We had our family time this weekend by a campfire in our new backyard. The kids love smelling it and we get to talk and enjoy a little bit of heaven when the stars come out

I love to read about your family nights, we do them too. We have watched airplanes take off at a spot they allow you to close to the airport, we went to Sonic and had an old fashioned diner meal served, we do movie nights, board game nights,I just blogged about one where we went to two different parks and just had a park family night. We usually camp out in the living room too with dads homemade tents. We love it, you are the one that inspired me to actually blog about them (I was blogging but not really thinking about sharing what we do on family night), Great fun!

Great idea and very cute pictures. :) When our kids were little I used to have a "Fast Food Night." They all colored their own paper sacks, then they hunted around the house for 5 little toys to go in the "Happy Meals." I cooked burgers and fries and served them in the sacks. Good memories. :)

Monica,

Yay--this turned out great! It must not have been too hot if you ate in the back of the car. Is that waxed paper you used around the burgers? You must've had some of those cute paper trays left for the fries. Love it. Wish I could've joined in for a homemade blizzard--yum!

Monica,
I love all your posts, but my favorites are your family night posts. After seeing your ideas I actually made having family nights at least 2x a month one of my new year's goals.
One idea I had that I have yet to implement, but I hope to, is to start a little notebook/memory book/scrapbook if you will, of our family nights. Just something simple that records what we did and includes any pictures I happen to take. I thought that would be fun to look back through years later, and even to help us do some fun ones again. It would be easy for you to make a little book like this by just printing off your family night blog entries!
Thanks for continuing to share your creative ideas! Mine have been pretty simple thus far, and not really with a theme, but have been lots of fun!

I follow your blog precisely for posts like this. I LOVE THIS. You are so creative and have great ideas for making the most of any situation. Thanks for sharing! We certainly wouldn't be able to fit our family into the back of either of our vehicles, despite having two BIG vehicles... but hey, you've inspired me to do a picnic on the hay wagon, or perhaps in the back of the grain truck =)

That is really a great idea. One day when I have a house in the States, I will do this! I think every night is family night for us. It is like $8.50 a gallon for gas for us. So we don't go out, we hang out at our in laws who live down the street, have a beer with in laws and neighbors while JR runs around with the German children.

We love family night. This is a great idea. Of course, with this Carolina heat... it may be a while before we try this exactly. ;) Thanks for the fun!
