Watch those ounces!

I recently bought some cereal on sale - I purchased four boxes of the same cereal and all of the boxes were the same size.

When I got home and was looking at my receipt, I noticed that two of the boxes were 16 oz. and two were 14.5 oz. How sneaky! I paid the same price and the boxes were so identical looking that I had no thought to check and make sure they all weighed the same.

But, it only takes once to learn something like this - you can be sure I'll be watching more closely next time!

Monica,

That is tricky! I'm sure that happens more often than we realize.

Hope you have a good day!

Now you should just call the customer line, let them know that the store you bought them at was selling them at the same price and you'll likely get a coupon for a free box...
(I learned that calling always pays from YOU)

I have noticed this also. With cereal, boxed crackers and ice cream. It is making it harder to glance quickly and see which brand is really the best value.

That is annoying! I also hate when you think you are getting a giant box of cereal and open it up to find it is only halfway full. Grrr....

Monica,
I don't know if the cereal you purchased was General Mills, but there was a story on the news Friday night about this. They reported that due to price increases they will be replacing all of the 16 oz boxes of cereal with 14.5 oz and the price for the 14.5 oz will remain the same as the old 16 oz boxes. *Sigh*
