Our Valentine's Day

We started out our special day with chocolate pancakes! I thought they were very yummy, but the girls really liked the whipped cream the best (big surprise), eventually we drizzled a little regular syrup on their and that helped a little bit!

I made these to decorate our table with Valentine M&M's and red candles:

Then, we had some friends over to play and colored Valentine pictures. Lunch was heart-shaped sandwiches and decorating sugar cookies!

While the little ladies napped, my Mom and I watched You've Got Mail! When they woke up, we had a tea party ready for them. We served Little Debbie heart cakes and water for "tea":

Then, we finished off our heart-day with a heart shaped pizza! I trimmed the pepperoni into heart shapes for a garnish on the top! After dinner, we decorated more sugar cookies!

Monica,

I love the pic of the tea party girls. Is that the tea set I sent, or a different one? I can't remember what it looked like!

You are too funny about the pepperoni. That is so fun you watched You've Got Mail. No wonder you called me so late in the day. Ha!

Carrie - They did get this tea set for Christmas, but the one you sent them stays in their little kitchen where they play with it a lot. It is the Pfaltzgraff Yorktowne pattern.

Melissa - I did not make the plates, they were a wedding gift. Aren't they perfect for Valentine's Day!?

Anonymous: Yes, that was a lot of sugar for one day! But, we had fun and made happy memories and that is what matters to me! :)

Jen - the tea set is kind of a long story...here goes:

I saw it in Pottery Barn Kids catalog several years ago and did not think I should spend that much money for a tea set for kids! So, waited around on it. By the time I decided to go for it - they were sold out and not getting any more. I've been checking ebay, etc... for the past couple of years but never saw one there either.

Then, this past Fall - the new PBK catalog came out and it was in there again. I ordered it that day using our Disover Card bonus - free money!

Well, I put it in my closet for several months until Christmas came and gave it to Emily and Rachel for Christmas. When we opened it, the tin it came in had a hole in it. I called and they refunded half of my money as it was no longer available to be replaced.

I have been so excited and thankful at how God provided even something frivolous like a tea set for half of what I expected to pay. I've even found myself being thankful that the tin had a hole in it so we did get a refund! :)
