Chalkboard Winner!

My site meter traffic went through the roof on this Avonlea post! You sweet ladies really outdid yourselves in leaving sweet comments! I am so thrilled to gather with so many kindred spirits!

I truly wish I could send each of you one of these! This has been such fun! But, since I can only send one - I hope you will all make these for yourselves and for gifts! For those of you who asked how to make them, here are the complicated directions: dust off plate, brush on chalkboard paint, let dry. Done!

Ok, enough jabbering - the winner is: Joy in Small Packages! Congratulations! I hope you enjoy your chalkboard plate!

Now, I really must tell you about this comment that Angela Buttercup left, she mentioned that if she won the plate, she would use it in her bedroom to leave love notes to her husband! Isn't that the sweetest idea!?!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Monica,

Where did you find chalboard paint in a can? I guess I'm in the dark but I've only seen it in a spray can.

Thank you!

Andrea, I got the paint at Lowe's in the paint section near the spray paint. Hope you can find some!

Was wondering how you were feeling these day's with baby #3 on the way?

Now I really need to make one, but in the meantime, I am going to hide notes around the room for him and see when he finds them...in his drawers etc. I like to draw on the shower and mirror with bath crayons, but the chalk plate sounds quicker to renew.

I made 2 of these plates, one for our family and one for a housewarming gift. But I have had trouble with the paint peeling off as I write on our plate. Did you do anything to seal it or must you use a certain plate surface?

Anonymous: I'm sorry it is peeling off. I did have this happen on one of my plates and just repainted it again with another coat of paint. I've wiped and written on the one in my kitchen several times and it seems to be fine. I did not use a sealer or even sand the glass. I'm sorry I don't know what to suggest other than to add another coat or two of chalkboard paint and see if that helps.
