Apples!

One of my favorite Fall activities is picking and canning apples! Well, we don't live within reasonable driving distance of an orchard - so I picked these out of the bin at the grocery store this week while they were on a good sale! So our fridge is loaded with these beauties!

Next week, my friend and kindred spirit, Susan, will be coming over to can with me! We'll be making Apple Pie Filling, Applesauce and Apple Butter! Yummy! I'm so excited - and of course, I'll be sharing recipes and pictures!

Would you mind sharing any of those recipes - if you haven't already? The Apple Pie filling sounds interesting.
Thanks :)

The love and homemade touch that will go into your applesauce, apple butter, and apple pie filling will more than make up for picking these apples at the grocery store! :)
Love you, Mom

I HAVE to ask... What will your kids be doing while you can? I canned salsa last year during naptime, but there's no way I can accomplish that during this year's one hour naptime!

Oh goody! Apple season! I intend to take the kids to an orchard and will be canning my heart out soon too. Good luck!

Hi Ladies!

I'll be posting all the recipes later this week when I have pix to go with! :)

Rebecca - you are right this cannot be accomplished in one nap time! We planned it so that I will keep Rachel up from her morning nap and then both girls will sleep at the same time for about 3 hours in the afternoon. This will run into the time when my husband gets home from work and he has agreed to keep them away from the hot kitchen and dangerous canning while we finish up!
