Mitford Moment: Quote Scripture

Remember the unruly dog, Barnabas?! He was controlled by Scripture! Whenever Father Tim needed to get him to behave or settle down, he would just recite whatever came to mind.

Wouldn't it be great if that was true of my life as well?
"Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." ~ Ephesians 5:19-20

Dear Monica:

After your first Mitford Moment post, I decided to start reading the books again from the beginning (I've been reading them off and on and out of order). I just read the part last night where Father Tim discovers that Barnabas responds in obedience to Scripture -- but feel completely dense that I never noticed the spiritual application before! Thanks for opening my eyes!

I love you -- Mom

Monica -

Oh that it were true of all of us! I'm currently reading A New Song, which is particularly close to my heart given where I live. I go back and reread the series about once a year and I always catch something I've missed before.

Love your Mitford Moments!

BTW, I made your cookies and they were wonderful. I got a pic of the mix still in the little jar, but the cookies were gobbled up so quick I didn't get a pic of the finished product! I really need to do a blog post about them. You're so thoughtful!
