A Mitford Moment: Morning Prayer

So many of share a love of these wonderful books! And, I have long had this idea but am just now getting it going!

Just about everyone I have talked to who has read and loved these books joins me in saying we wish we could live in Mitford! My Mom always reminds me to try to make wherever I live more like Mitford. So, as I am re-reading (again!) the series, I am going to suggest some ideas of things that we can do to make our lives more Mitford-like.

I took this photo from our bed and breakfast last May when my Mom and I did our little Mitford trip. So, it seemed a fitting theme for these posts. This series may last for a very long time as I have loads of ideas and I'm on page 59 of the FIRST book!

I'd love to hear your ideas too!

So, here is the first one:

I simply love Father Tim's morning prayer...

"Father, make me a blessing to someone today, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Let's make that our prayer too.

Oh my goodness! I love this idea! I just started reading these books after I read your post about them some time ago. I am now on book 7 and absolutely loving this series! Thank you for mentioning it, they have been such a blessing to me and I look forward to reading your thoughts on making where we are more like Mitford!
Blessings,
Liisa

I enjoyed all of the Mitford books. They evoke a peaceful, gentle feeling.

I can't wait to see what "nuggets" you have to share with us. :0)

Oh, Monica-
You were definately a blessing to me this morning so the Lord has answered your prayer already!

And yes I went to MOPS (and talked to many new people!) and I haven't called Brandi yet...but I will!

I also love the Mitford series. I will be reading them again, and would love to give, and take ideas as well.
Happy day!

I just got a few of these books, and have only read a few pages, but I did read that part with his quick prayer, and I thought it was so simple yet profound at the same time!! I LOVE that idea.....so many focus on a list of do's and don'ts but this type of focus really appeals to me!

Oh what a WONDERFUL page/blog you have! I really want to add it to my RSS feed reader, but did not see a link for your RSS feed. Do you have one?

What a great perspective check! Instead of "I need I need we need we must have...."!

I have to confess that I have just read the first book, but loved it, and am eager to read the rest! For some reason they are not as popular in southern california, and I wish they would be! If ever there was a place where people needed to learn to slow down it is here!

Oh now I so wish I had one or more of these books as I'm embarking upon a southernly vacation in just about a week. I shall have to hit the bookstore in the next few days to grab a glimpse of what's causing all this chatter! Looking forward to it!

I came back to your page (per the url you sent me) and still do not see an RSS feed link (the RSS link is different from your homepage link). Do you know the direct link to your RSS feed? Or is there a button somewhere on your site I am missing? Thank you again!!! :D

Hey Paula - I am clueless about that kind of stuff. The others who have asked me have never replied that the URL info did not suffice. Yikes - anyone else know the answer?

Dear Monica --

What a lovely idea to add to your already wonderful blog!

I was just recently putting together my little Mitford Memories photo album with photos from our trip last spring (including the view from the window that you are using) and our Mitford meal from several weeks ago. I've left blank pages to add more Mitford Memories, too!

God has indeed answered your prayer to be a blessing to someone today! May you receive a blessing as well!

I love you very much,
Mom
